Roderos to take over twin's post in Crame
CEBU, Philippines - Police Regional Office-7 director Chief Supt. Ronald Roderos will soon be assigned as deputy chief for administration of the National Capital Region Police Office in Camp Crame, the position currently being held by his twin brother Chief Supt. Rey Roderos.
Rey will be reassigned as head of Visayas Directorate for Integrated Police Operations in the PRO-7 compound.
Chief Supt. Federico Terte, currently deputy regional director for administration, will act as officer-in-charge of the PRO-7.
Sr. Supt. Marcelo Garbo, currently deputy regional director for operations will take over Terte’s position while Sr. Supt. Vicente Loot, currently chief of staff, will remain as such but also take over Garbo’s position.
Ronald Roderos will be relieved Monday after an order from President Gloria Arroyo and PNP chief Jesus Verzosa.
As ordered, seven working days after Roderos serves as the new NCRPO chief for administration, he will earn a second star on his uniform.
Last Tuesday, Police Deputy Director General Ismael Rafanan hinted that for Roderos to earn a second star he has to leave his post in PRO-7 for a post in Camp Crame.
Rafanan was here as guest of honor and speaker during the 28th PNP Anniversary.
He said that for him to gain a higher rank, Roderos has to be promoted before his birthday on March 2. The PNP has a policy that does not allow an officer to be promoted to a higher rank a year before he retires. Roderos is set to retire in 2010.
In an interview yesterday, Roderos said that he will follow orders from his superiors. He also said he has served the best years of his life in PRO-7.
“I became a Cebuano by heart. I became a Cebuano by choice,” said Roderos, who is from Bicol.
Cebu City Police Office chief Patrocinio Comendador Jr. said Roderos will be missed.
“RD (regional director) is a very effective manager and inspired leader for all the members of PRO-7. His relief is a great loss to PRO-7… He is approachable. He gives autonomy to the commanders that make us creative and imaginative,” Comendador said.
Meanwhile, Cebu Provincial Police Office director Valmoria said while it is a great loss the transfer is also a career development for Roderos.
Valmoria also thanked Roderos for all he has contributed to the police.
A formal ceremony will be conducted on Monday wherein Verzosa and Interior Secretary Ronaldo Puno are expected to attend. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot and Bentley Naire Luyong CIT Masscom intern(THE FREEMAN)
