CEBU – A security guard shot a 41-year-old man while two unidentified men on a motorcycle shot a 30-year-old man in separate incidents in the city yesterday.
The first incident happened past 3 pm in barangay Capitol Site when security guard Gerry Grandia, 38, a member of the Visayas Investigation and Services Corporation, allegedly shot Arcadio Labay after suspecting the latter of trying to steal his bicycle.
Grandia, who is assigned at a restaurant in Coco Mall, said he shot Labay when he saw the latter allegedly about to steal his bicycle parked outside the restaurant.
Grandia later surrendered to the police after Labay was brought to the Cebu City Medical Center for treatment.
A .38 cal. revolver with one empty shell and five live rounds was recovered from Grandia.
Meanwhile, a dispatcher was shot dead by two men on a motorcycle while the victim was drinking with a friend in sitio Anapog, barangay Lahug yesterday.
Witnesses told the police that Rey Pedrosa was drinking with a friend outside the latter’s house when the suspects arrived on board a motorcycle and shot Pedrosa several times, hitting him in different parts of his body.
No one was able to identify the gunmen because they reportedly wore full-face helmets.
