-

CEBU – Commission on Higher Education-7 officer-in-charge Candelario Aytona called the attention of the 153 colleges and universities here in Cebu not to have a tuition fee increase for this school year 2009-2010.

This as he said the country is facing the global economic crisis and almost everybody is affected.

“Palabyon una ang usa ka tuig, diha na magpa-usbaw,” Aytona said

However Aytona said that there are universities that reduced tuition fees like the University of the Visayas.

There are also school that initially filed for an increase but withdrew them.

Meanwhile, assistant Cebu City Schools Division superintendent Salustiano Jimenez said that they are always preparing for the possible effects of the global economic crisis as well as the number of students from private schools who will transfer to public schools. — Johanna Natavio/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
