CEBU – A motorcycle-for-hire driver was stabbed reportedly by his two passengers yesterday at around 3 a.m. in barangay Poblacion, Barili town.
The victim was identified by the Barili police as Mario Torres, 47, married, and a resident of sitio Salay, barangay Mayana, of the said town.
SPO2 Saldy Orillo said that the victim came from barangay Buloc-buloc after he ferried a passenger there where a benefit dance was held. On his way back to the town proper, two unidentified men asked him that they be taken to the Poblacion.
Orillo added that upon the arrival of the three at the town’s public market, a heated argument, which stemmed from a still undetermined reason, ensued between the passengers and Torres which led to the stabbing.
Torres was said to be hit many times in the body before the perpetrators left him sprawled on the road.
“Wala kunoy kontra ang biktima diha sa ilang lugar kay buotan kuno ni nga pagkatawo; labaw sab nga dili tulis ang motibo kay diha pa man ang kwarta sa biktima,” Orillo said.
He believes that the assailants were under the influence of liquor at the time they committed the crime. — Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc and Guam Logroño/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
