PPC bringing back special Valentine's delivery service
CEBU - The Philippine Postal Corporation is bringing back this season its special service called Love Expression --PPC’s flower delivery service for clients who wish to express love this valentine’s season through flowers and other items that postmen will personally deliver right to the doorstep.
PPC information officer and marketing specialist Rachel Betos said that through this, they will be able to remind the Filipinos of the tradition of giving flowers as a form of affection.
“Lahi ra man gyud ang feeling kung makadawat ka’g flowers,” she said.
Betos said that aside from investing in the sweet nature of Filipinos, PPC would like to give the public the chance to show their sweetness at the most affordable way that PPC offers.
Love Expression offers services competitive to other flower shops, arrangement- and affordability-wise.
“Let the people know that PPC is not limited on delivering letters but also flowers and stuffs like other delivery service outlets do,” Betos said.
The service has been gaining positive reception from the public but is only available in only three cities in the region, these being Cebu City, Mandaue City and Lapu-Lapu City, with Cebu City having the most number of orders.
Aside from being less costly and having good quality, delivery is assured to always be on time.
“Dili gyud dapat ma-delay,” said Jocelyn Agravante, Postal Cebu City District manager.
Love Expression is just one of the add-on services of the PPC where it gets its income. PPC also has “Loading wheel” which allows postmen to sell mobile phone load while they are roaming around their designated areas.
“So kung makakita mo og kartero, sigurado na namaligya na siya og load, but it’s only exclusive for Globe,” Betos said.
There is also the Back Load service where PPC accepts request to carry and deliver loads within the area of each PPC station’s jurisdiction.
All these services are made available primarily to serve the public and to generate more income to strengthen PPC’s self sufficiency.
PPC exists on its own depending only on its income, which means it receives no financial support from the national government, though the government still manages and controls the corporation.
PPC in Cebu City earns about P60 million yearly which it uses for its operation. Agravante said that they earned P68 million last year. She said for 2008 their income only had an increase of less than a million.
This year, PPC targets a five percent increase from the 2008 income so they can improve more their delivery of services to the people.
Agravante said that they are confident they could reach the target income this year. She added that Region 7 remains one of the earning regions nationwide. – Jessica Ann Pareja/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
