LTO-7 more functional with Task Force Alpha

-

CEBU – Land Transportation Office-7 regional director Raul Aguilos has encouraged the members of LTO’s enforcement arm – the Task Force Alpha – to intensify their campaign against erring drivers.

Aguilos acknowledged the contribution of the members of Task Force Alpha, a non-government organization accredited by the LTO to assist in the drive against abusive motorists.

He admitted that without the members of Task Force Alpha, the LTO-7 regional office may not become the number one in the highest number of apprehensions and collection of revenues.

“Pito ra ang among regular agents sa tibuok Central Visayas ug imposible nga maukopar namo ang pagpanakop sa lainlaing lugar, ilabi na dinhi sa Cebu,” Aguilos told the TFA members during a recent seminar on traffic enforcement.

For his part, Cebu City acting mayor Michael Rama has also admired the members of task force Alpha for their contribution in achieving smooth traffic on roads. But he has reminders for them.

Rama said that the LTO deputized agents should not conduct checkpoint operations in unlighted areas and that they must install sign boards with reflectors so motorists could identify them easily.

“Kun makita sa mga motorista kun kinsa ang nag-operate sa checkpoint, mahimong dili sila mahadlok ilabi na kun courteous ang mga tawo nga mohimo sa checkpoint,” Rama said.

Task Force Alpha director Joe Mendaros assured Rama that his members will heed the advice.

Mayor Tomas Osmeña and Councilor Augustus Pe, Jr. are also honorary members of the task force. They are not obliged, though, to participate in the operations.

Mendaros said that their group – comprised of selected businessmen and professionals - conducts regular operations three times weekly or every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. — Rene U. Borromeo/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
