Barangay treasurer sued for child abuse

CEBU – A barangay treasurer in Bantayan town is facing criminal complaint for child abuse before the Cebu Provincial Prosecutor’s Office for showing pornographic video in his cellular phone to the children.

The father of one of the children, to whom barangay Hilotongan treasurer Osualdo Zaspa Revo alias Noknok showed the sex video, filed the complaint against Revo for violation of the Republic Act 7610, otherwise known as the Child Abuse Law.

Panchovilla Forrosuela Escala Sr. said he was surprised to hear his six-year-old son allegedly describing a sex video. Escala said he immediately confronted his son and inquired about where he learned about the sex video. Escala said his son told him that he saw the sex video from his uncle Noknok’s phone. Escala said his son told him that he and three other playmates were playing at the basketball court in the afternoon of June 8, 2008 when they saw a group of people laughing.

The children inquired what they were laughing about and saw the suspect holding a cellular phone showing to the people a pornographic video. Revo allegedly also showed to them the video.

Escala said he verified what his son has told him with his three playmates and they also confirmed to have seen the sex video.
