Newspaper vendor shot dead in Carcar

Cebu - A man who sold newspapers for a living was shot to death by an unidentified assailant at around 1 a.m. yesterday in Poblacion, Carcar City.

The 59-year-old victim, Felix Dialimas, was about to leave his house on Jose Rizal Street to get his daily share of newspapers to sell when an unidentified man shot him, hitting him in the nape.

The lone witness, Lorenzo Oswa, a security guard of a bank in the area, said that prior to the incident he already noticed of a man standing few meters away from the house of the victim, hours before carrying out the crime.

PO3 Reynaldo Fuentes of the Carcar City Police Station said that the witness disclosed that when the man saw that Dialimas was already out of his house, he moved towards him and shot him thrice.

The perpetrator hurriedly left the area while the victim was taken to the Carcar District Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

A follow-up investigation is now conducted by the police to identify the assailant and determine the motive of the killing. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
