CEBU - Five youths, two of them minors, were accused of stabbing two men after a botched robbery attempt inside a passenger jeepney yesterday morning along N. Bacalso Ave.
The victims were identified as Jundard Jumao-as, 23, of Bamboo Village, barangay Basak-Pardo, Cebu City, who was hurt in the elbow and Niño Marvin Jumao-as, 23, of Friendship Village, barangay Basak-San Nicolas, who was wounded in the left side of his head and in the abdomen.
The two were allegedly stabbed by Esam Mamaro, 21, and a 17-year-old. They were allegedly backed up by Edgar Majed, 18; Jolanie Hadji, 18, and another 17-year-old.
All suspects are residents of Cabreros St., barangay San Nicolas.
Homicide Section investigator SPO2 Rey Cuyos said the victims were in the company of the Jundard’s younger brother Johnbel Jumao-as and their neighbor Jomel Gutib, 22, who witnessed the incident.
The four just left a disco and were heading home on a jeepney bound for Tabunok with plate number GWP-675 driven by Rolando Dayondon Jr. around 3 a.m.
When they reached the said place, Jundard allegedly heard one of the minors planning to rob the said PUJ and said: “Ayaw sa bai, panauga sa mi.”
The minor, armed with a knife suddenly stabbed Jundard while Niño who tried to intervene was also stabbed by Mamaro. The victims and their friends fought back and managed to restrain the two.
The other suspects did not make a move as Dayondon drove them to the Mambaling Police Station where policemen later turned them over to the Punta Princesa Police Station.
The victims were then rushed by SPO1 Alejandro Batobalonos and PO2 John Paul Bacalso to the Cebu City Medical Center for treatment of the stab wounds they sustained. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot /BRP (THE FREEMAN)
