Woman kills self over slashed pay

Cebu - A teenager committed suicide last Thursday morning in her rented house in San Fernando town after she could no longer give money to her mother after her salary as a gas pump attendant was reduced.

The fatality was identified as Denesa Pisa, 19, of sitio Luknay, barangay South Poblacion, San Fernando.

SPO1 Vigilio Cañete of the San Fernando police said when the team led by Sr. Insp. Errol Francis Deveyra responded to the incident, they saw the victim hanging from a blanket tied to the beam of her room.

Cañete said the victim was depressed after she found out her salary would be deducted whenever the cashier made any mistake in handling the earnings of the gas station where she worked in barangay Awayan, Carcar City.

There was a suicide note found in the room. But while the relatives of the fatality confirmed that it was indeed her handwriting, police are still trying to determine if there was any foul play involved.
