One-stop-shop for business permit renewal

-

CEBU - The municipal government of Liloan has put up a one-stop shop for the renewal of business permits, an effort intended to cut the red tape in the processing of business permits, said Mayor Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco.

Instead of going from department to department at the City Hall, business owners now only have to go to the Panphil Frasco Sports Center where representatives of the departments are placed in tables next to each other.

“The convenience offered to businesses will also translate into more revenues for the municipality.

The process would now take less than one hour since every department concerned in the processing are placed in tables next to each other at the gym,” Frasco said.

The program is in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry and the German Agency for Technical Cooperation.

Pascasio Onsines, a 69-year-old entrepreneur from Lataban, is thankful for the program.

“Maayo ni kay mas dali, simple,” Onsines said.

Unlike before when he had to go through a long process, this time around, Onsines only needs to fill-up the application or renewal form and attach a barangay clearance for assessment and evaluation.

Hammurabi Bugtai, Liloan business permits and licensing officer, explained that with the new system, both the applicants and the municipality can save time and effort and collection of fees will be smoother.

So far, the town has collected some P5 million from payment of renewal of permits since the one stop shop was implemented recently. The amount is twice than what the town collected the previous year.

The one stop shop accommodates around 100 to 200 people a day. Departments concerned include the local police, engineering, health and other offices. — Garry B. Lao/JMO   (THE FREEMAN)
