Osorio's boss happy with investigation on ambush

-

CEBU - Although the police and the National Bureau of Investigation do not have a definite suspect yet in the murder of Assistant City Prosecutor Patrick Osorio, Cebu City Prosecutor Nicolas Sellon said he is satisfied with the way the investigating agencies are handling the case.

It has been a week since the ambush of Osorio, but the task force created by Police Regional Office-7 chief Ronald Roderos to investigate it is still facing a blank wall as to who the perpetrators are and what could be their motives.

The police and other members of the task force like the NBI have not zeroed in on a single lead yet in their investigation.

Investigators could not even tell until now whether or not the killing was work-related or a personal grudge.

But despite of that, Sellon said he is satisfied with the task force members’ performance because he knows that they are doing the best they can to expedite the investigation and bring the perpetrators into justice the soonest time possible.

Sellon said over radio station dyLA that he can understand if the investigation would take some time because it is not easy to do it.

He said that he has high confidence in the capability and the ability of the members of the task force.

Sellon said that they are also helping the task force to immediately solve the case by providing them records of all the cases handled by Osorio.

The cases are being looked into as possible motives of his killing. The NBI has already started gathering personal information about Osorio that might help in the investigation.

In fact, Osorio’s secretary was invited to the NBI the other day to provide investigators information on the personality of Osorio as well as the background of some cases handled by the prosecutor.

The police on the other hand have not also established the motive yet.

In a separate interview over dyLA the other day, Cebu City Police chief Patrocinio Comendador said they could not tell as of now yet whether the motive is work-related or personal.

But, Comendador said, it is 50 to 60 percent possible that it is work-related and only 40-percent that it is personal.

The police claimed they have already invited several people for questioning. One of them was Ritcham Alda, a member of the Tau Gamma Phi Fraternity, but was also released after witnessed failed to identify him.

Alda alleged owned a red motorcycle, similar to that used by the killers of Osorio. What caught the eye of the police was that he recently changed the color of the motorcycle to black.

Alda was also reported to have sent a text message claiming they have killed somebody in barangay Mambaling.

But, according to Comendador, Alda claimed that he was only joking and that the text was already erased.

The FREEMAN’s source however said that the police was forced to release Alda, because the witness whom they allegedly forced to execute an affidavit pointing to Alda as the gunman recanted and complained before the media. — Fred P. Languido/NLQ    (THE FREEMAN)
