Girl, 14, killed in Carcar shooting

CEBU - Two unidentified men shot dead a young girl and wounded her two companions in sitio Mahayahay, barangay Liboron, Carcar City around 10 p.m. last Monday.

The victim, a 14-year-old, of barangay Tuyom, Carcar City, was riding with her male cousin and female friend on a motorcycle on their way to a fiesta celebration before the incident.

PO3 Reynaldo Fuentes of the Carcar City police said the three got lost in the dark and the victim’s friend, who was driving the motorcycle, doubled back and returned to the main road.

They were pelted with stones by unidentified persons before two men who covered their faces with t-shirts suddenly blocked their way and shot them at close range.

The victim and her friend both sustained gunshot wounds while their companion escaped serious injury. The three were rushed to the Jesus Paraz Memorial District Hospital but the victim died on the way.

Responding policemen failed to arrest the assailants because no one could identify them.
