Groovy dancer shot

Cebu - These days you are no longer shot for just acting tough, you can also get shot if you have the “moves”.

A teenager was shot by the two assailants who also hit a Sangguniang Kabataan chairwoman while they were dancing in a benefit dance in barangay Manlapay, Dumanjug town, early morning yesterday.

The victim was identified only as a certain “Kenneth” while the SK chairwoman was Ethel Saromines, 18.

The alleged assailants were identified as Menjel Redondo, a resident of barangay Tubob-duguan, Dumanjug and Roel Mirafuentes, of barangay Panpan, Sibonga town.

PO1 Christopher Barro of the Dumanjug police said that the victims and alleged assailants were on the dance floor when Redondo suddenly pulled out a gun and shot at Kenneth.

The shot missed Kenneth’s head but hit his left ear near his earring. After Redondo missed Mirafuentes allegedly shot at Kenneth with his .45 cal. pistol but also missed.

The slug ricocheted against a wall and hit Saromines in the foot.

Responding policemen failed to arrest the alleged assailants who quickly left on a motorcycle after the incident.

Barro said that the two were known to be bullies in the place and may have just been jealous of Kenneth because of his dance moves.   — Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc and Guam Logroño (THE FREEMAN)
