Valmoria mum on case filed by dismissed cop

Cebu Provincial Police Office director Carmelo Valmoria chose not to comment on the case filed against him and Police Regional Office-7 director Ronald Roderos by a former police officer who was dismissed from service last year due to absences without official leave.

Valmoria told reporters yesterday that he would just wait for the copy of the formal complaint before he would make any comment.

“Law enforcers do not break the law and they follow the rules and regulations,” was all the CPPO chief said

Earlier, former PO1 Renan Teñedo of Pinamungajan Police Station has filed a petition for certiorari against Valmoria and Roderos before the Regional Trial Court assailing the order for his dismissal for alleged lack of due process.

Teñedo was asking the court to reverse Roderos’ decision that dismissed him and to be reinstated back in the police service.

The former policeman was found guilty after an investigation for being absent for six days without official leave.

On August 8, 2008 he received a decision from Roderos dated June 6, 2008 that imposes suspension against him for 30 days without pay.

On August 18, Teñedo, through his legal counsel, sent a letter to Roderos accepting the penalty.

However, on August 21, Teñedo received again another decision from Roderos that imposed the penalty of dismissal.

In his petition for certiorari, Teñedo said that Roderos erred and acted with grave abuse of discretion in setting aside his June 6, 2008 decision and ordered a dismissal. – Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
