Cebu - An assistant city prosecutor is now in critical condition after he was shot late yesterday afternoon at Maria Gochan Village corner N. Bacalso Avenue, barangay Mambaling, Cebu City.
The victim was identified as Assistant City Prosecutor Patrick Osorio of the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office. He was rushed to the Miller General Hospital after sustaining two gunshot wounds in his stomach.
Two unidentified assailants on board a motorcycle immediately fled after shooting Osorio. The victim was driving his blue Toyota Revo with plate number GPB-203 when he was fired upon by one of the assailants.
Two witnesses said that the gumen rode a red motorcycle, but they were not able to make out the plate number.
They also described the driver to be wearing a red shirt while the triggerman, who rode tandem, was wearing a pair of denim short pants and a black T-shirt.
It was impossible to see their faces as they both wore yellow helmets that covered their faces.
According to investigating officer, SPO3 Alex Dacua of the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office, witnesses said that both assailants have large body builds.
Osorio, who was already hit, went out of his vehicle to ask for help from the people in the area then lost consciousness.
As of this writing, no medical bulletin about Osorio’s condition has been released.
PO3 Ronald Ybañez the duty desk officer of the Mambaling Police Station, however, said that they have been informed that four bags of blood have already been transfused to Osorio.
Scene of the crime personnel were able to recover one empty .45 caliber shell.
A reporter covering the Palace of Justice beat said that the said fiscal is a good man and easy to be with.
“Smiling man na siya kaayo, approachable, wala g’yud na s’yay libog. Mu-entertain g’yud na siya g complainants,” the reporter said.
Osorio is handling family cases being the resident prosecutor assigned at the Regional Trial Court Branch 24, which is a family court.
Although he rarely goes to the firing range, he reportedly owns a 9-millimeter Norinco pistol.
