Justice remains elusive to Bacolod family

-

CEBU - Seven years have passed since the brutal murder of Alona Bacolod Ecleo allegedly by her husband, Philippine Benevolent Missionaries Association (PBMA) supreme master Ruben Ecleo Jr., yet justice remains elusive to the family of the victim.

Yesterday marked the seventh death anniversary of Alona, but the parricide case against Ecleo continues to drag on.

In fact, it is still uncertain when the court will resume hearing of the case in light of the controversy created by the recent inhibition of the sixth judge handling the case.

Regional Trial Court Judge Geraldine Faith Econg inhibited herself from the case last year to dispel accusations from the prosecution that she was biased in favour of the accused.

However, Econg’s inhibition was denied by then RTC Executive Judge Fortunato De Gracia.— Fred P. languido/LPM   (THE FREEMAN)
