CEBU – The fate of the policeman from Tudela Island, Camotes, who went wild because of the alleged delay in the release of his Christmas bonus, will be known today as the provincial police office announces its initial move against PO2 Pepito Layague.
Supt. Romeo Perigo, Provincial Deputy Director for Operations, said Provincial Police Office director Carmelo Valmoria will make his announcement today on Layague’s status.
Layague, who was reportedly drunk when he lined up to claim his P7,000 Christmas bonus last December 29, went wild at the CPPO headquarters. A formal probe will be opened against him but whether or not he will be relieved pending investigation will be announced today.
“They will start their investigation against PO2 Layague through preparing administrative complaints where Insp. Ruben Cuizon, Deputy Chief for Provincial Investigation and Detection Management Branch would be the nominal complainant,” Perigo said.
Perigo said they will also require PO1s Menchu Gerognas and Hope Goyongco of the CPPO finance office to issue affidavits on allegations that Layague pressured them to release the bonus quickly.
Perigo said he has personally pardoned Layague when the latter reportedly sought forgiveness yet he will not stop the office from conducting a formal investigation against the misbehaving policeman.
An investigation also intends to teach Layague a lesson that the police office can police its own ranks.
“Ako na gipasaylo si Layague dihang nangayo nakog pasaylo human makagawas sa Mabolo Police Station human usab mabalhog gumikan sa resulta sa liquor test nga positibo,” Perigo said. — Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc and Guam Logroño of Banat News/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
