Suspect in Talisay shooting arrested

CEBU - Talisay City police yesterday arrested one of two suspects in a twin shooting in barangay Lawaan I, Talisay City late evening last Saturday.

Arrested yesterday was a certain Eulogio Pansoy Jr., 23, also a resident of barangay Lawaan I. He was spotted near B.F. Homes by a member of the Talisay City Intelligence Bureau.

Police said Pansoy even tried to evade arrest by firing at the TCIB member before jumping over the fence of B.F Homes. He was accosted moments later with a .38 revolver and five empty shells recovered from his possession.

In an interview with The Freeman, Eulogio said he regretted what he had done last Saturday but denied he shot a TCIB member.

“Wala ko nisukol sa mga police uy! Wala naman gani koy bala,” Eulogio said.

Police are conducting a follow-up operation for the arrest of the other suspect identified only as Junel.

SPO3 Cleofas Bonjoc of the Talisay police said the shooting happened after victims Lemuel Deiparine, 36, and Roger Oracion, 37, and the suspects reportedly threw foul words at each other. Eulogio allegedly shot the victims using the .38 revolver.

Oracion, who sustained two gunshot wounds, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Talisay City District Hospital while Deiparine was transferred to the Chong Hua Hospital.

The other day, a woman reportedly went to the police and said that Deiparine also did not survive. – Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
