Wife dies, husband critical as minibus hits motorcycle

CEBU - A woman died while her husband is now in critical condition after they figured in a road accident in San Fernando town on their way to the shrine of the miraculous Mary of Simala in Sibonga town early morning yesterday.

The couple was identified as Edward Bismanos, 33, and Brenda Bismanos, 31, residing in Lapu-Lapu City.

Investigation showed that when the couple was traveling the highway in North Poblacion, San Fernando, they reportedly tried to overtake a Toyota Innova driven by a certain Francis Antonio Visarra.

However, it appeared that they missed their intended maneuver that the motorcycle hit the rear part of the Innova, causing the bike to lose balance and topple over.

Unfortunately, it was too late for the driver of the Isuzu minibus traveling the opposite lane to step on the breaks thus it collided with the motorcycle.

Brenda ended under the minibus stock under the mini bus while Edward was thrown off farther down the road.

Investigators cleared the driver of the Innova from any liability while the driver of the minibus, Reynaldo Enad, voluntarily surrendered to the police.

Edward is currently confined at the Chong Hua Hospital. – Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc/JMO(THE FREEMAN)
