Patrol car falls off bridge in Tabogon

-

CEBU - A police patrol car fell off a bridge, estimated to be 20 feet deep, in sitio Camilang, barangay Labangon, Tabogon town at 6:45 p.m. last Wednesday while it was on its way back to the Tabogon Police Station after responding to a trouble alarm.

The team leader of the group, SPO2 Junalito Saladaga drove the police car bearing plate number SHT-548. His colleagues were identified as PO1 Rosendo Hortelano and PO1 Eulogio Buglao.

SPO4 Aniceto Manloloyo, deputy chief of police of Tabogon, said that the team of Saladaga responded to a trouble alarm in barangay Libjo, which is 17 kilometers away from the police station.

While the police were on their way back to the police station, the steering wheel of the vehicle reportedly malfunctioned. Saladaga failed to control the car, Manloloyo said.

The civilian, who was with the responding policemen after he was arrested for allegedly causing trouble in his neighborhood, was identified as Rolando Colo.

Though the police officers and Colo suffered only minor injuries, they were still taken to the hospital for checkup. Saladaga was the only one advised for confinement at the Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital, Manloloyo said.

“Pasalamat mi sa Ginoo kay wala gyo’y nakalas sa maong disgrasya sa kahabog sa ilang gitagakan. Hinoon mga buotan man sad ning akong mga police,” Manloloyo said.

Meanwhile, Colo was released after the complainant decided not to file a case against him. — Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc/MEEV   (THE FREEMAN)
