CEBU - A 71-year-old woman died while a 16-year-old boy is now in critical condition after the tricycle they were riding collided head-on with a Toyota Revo late afternoon Saturday in barangay Kawayan, Dalaguete town.
According to reports from the Dalaguete police station the tricycle with plate number GD-4615, driven by a certain Dino Amamangpang, allegedly overtook another vehicle, which caused it to collide head-on with the Toyota Revo with plate number GPS-259 driven by a certain Reneta Tangpus, 44, which was coming from the opposite direction.
Amamangpang and his passengers, 71-year-old Gaudiosa Amazona, of barangay Casay, and 16-year-old Raphy Enricoso, of barangay Kawayan, all sustained injuries, but Amazona’s was more serious as he hit her head against the front of the sidecar.
PO3 Christopher Requina said Tangpus was heading towards the southern part of the town while the tricycle was heading north. Requina said Amamangpang did not notice the Toyota Revo at first when he overtook the vehicle he was following and it was already too late when he saw it.
The victims were first brought to the Julio Cardinal Rosales Memorial Hospital where Amazona was declared dead on arrival. Tangpus, Amamangpang and Enricoso were later transferred to a hospital in Cebu City. — Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
