IPI donates materials for massage course

CEBU - The IPI recently donated supplies and materials for the holding of therapeutic massage course intended for the visually impaired trainees of the Area Vocational Rehabilitation Center 11(AVRC) in barangay Labangon, Cebu City.

IPI president and chairman of the Board Pio Castillo said the donated materials, which are for the exclusive use of the blind trainees, will help them realize their full potentials, maximize their residual capacities that will eventually lead to their social and economic independence.

Castillo added that with this assistance, IPI will be able to actualize its social responsibility in uplifting the lives of the most disadvantaged sector at the same time help the PWDs attain a meaningful, productive and satisfying life by partnering with the government.

AVRC is a vocational rehabilitation facility for persons with disability (PWD) which is operated and maintained by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for 34 years now.

Aside from the therapeutic massage, other courses offered by the center include the following: motor rewinding, consumer electronics, dress and apparel technology, handicrafts, basic computer literacy and cosmetology.

With the IPI donation, the AVRC 11 hopes to accommodate more visually impaired clients from the Visayas and Mindanao. — PR/LPM   (THE FREEMAN)
