Man charged for selling shabu
CEBU - A man from Carcar City was charged for violation of Section 11 of the Dangerous Drugs Act after trying to sell shabu to a policeman last October 11 in Carcar City.
In his sworn affidavit, PO1 Lorenzo delos Reyes said it was Dante Balanon who approached him and offered to sell him shabu.
Delos Reyes said he was on leave at the time and waiting for a friend who owed him money at a waiting shed in barangay Napo, but it was the suspect who approached him first.
Balanon allegedly asked the policeman if he wanted to buy shabu as he was selling the drugs.
Thinking that Balanon was joking, the policeman ignored the suspect but Balanon kept showing him the drugs he had.
It was then that Delos Reyes arrested Balanon.
But Balanon, in his sworn statement, refuted Delos Reyes’ statement, saying that the policeman was drunk when he arrested him.
Balanon said that they were riding a trisikad when Delos Reyes asked him if he sold shabu and he said no. The policeman then asked him where he was going and Balanon replied he was going to barangay Ocaña to buy something.
Delos Reyes got angry instead and threatened him with his gun.
But the prosecutor Richard Abangan did not believe Balanon’s statements, saying that the police have enough evidence to file charges against him since he was positively identified and that there was no ill motive found on the part of the complainant. — Jasmin R. Uy/BRP(THE FREEMAN)
