Man charged for attempting to kill his wife
CEBU - A man has been charged with attempted parricide before the Regional Trial Court Criminal Division yesterday after he allegedly tried to kill his wife with a knife last September 12.
Corazon Atamosa filed charges against her husband Jesus Atamosa, whom she claimed tried to stab her when she refused to have sex with him in the night of September 12.
Corazon said that his husband came home drunk and asked her to open the door and have sex with him.
But because she was so tired from the day’s work, she did not give in to her husband’s request.
Jesus then got mad at her, broke the door down and got a knife that he used in threatening her.
When she further resisted his threats, Jesus tried to stab her but she was able to evade the attack and jumped out of the window to get away from her husband.
Down on the ground and sensing that her husband was coming to finish her off, she screamed for help.
Her son Jerald, who saw that his father was about to stab his mother, grappled for the knife and was eventually able to disarm and subdue his father.
Corazon ran and called for police assistance which led to the arrest of her husband.
Corazon told police that Jesus habitually beat her and their children whenever he got drunk.
She said that in 1979, she was physically abused by the suspect in front of their children.
Corazon said that she is determined to pursue the charges. — Jasmin R. Uy/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
