CEBU - A four-year-old boy was hit by a Korean driving a multicab when he suddenly crossed the National Highway in sitio Bia-ong, barangay Dakit, Barili town yesterday.

SPO2 Moises Cantilla of the Barili police said the boy and his family were coming home from a beach outing and stopped for a snack at a store.

When they made the stop, the boy, Tim Walter Alvarado, of Sikatuna St., Cebu City disembarked from the car and suddenly crossed the highway.

Just then, Kim Yong Sik, 30, of barangay Pinagsama, Moalboal town, was rounding a curve in his multicab bearing license plate no. JBZ-629 and accidentally hit the boy.

The victim was rushed to the Barili District Hospital and later transferred to the Cebu City Medical Center hospital for further treatment.

Rhea Alvarado, the mother of the victim, told Cantilla that her son was found to have a blood clot in the brain and is still under observation in the said hospital.

Cantilla said Kim is under custody as a matter of procedure. He also said Kim assured the family of the victim that he will take charge of all medical expenses. — Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc and Bentley Luyong (THE FREEMAN)
