Police chief may not get salary if proven he abandoned post
CEBU - Sr. Insp. Cerciaco Larrobis, chief of police of San Francisco, Camotes, may not receive five days worth of salary if he and his men will be proven to have abandoned their posts last month, said Cebu Provincial Police Director Carmelo Valmoria.
Larrobis is facing a charge for neglect of duty while the 12 policemen under him are facing charges for less grave neglect of duty after an employee of the town hall complained that no one was at the police station when she called for assistance.
Valmoria said the law gives him the authority to implement disciplinary action even to a police officer with Larrobis’ rank.
The Provincial Investigation Detection and Management Branch has recommended that the 12 Police Non Commission Officers under Larrobis should be charged with less grave neglect of duty but it is the PRO-7 that would hand down the appropriate penalty.
Valmoria said that even if Larrobis was indeed in Cebu City at that time, it was still his responsibility to make sure that his men did not abandon their posts. — Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
