Family of man pinned to death to get CH help

-

CEBU - The family of the 68-year-old man who was pinned to death inside his house when a palm tree fell on it in barangay Pit-os will receive assistance from the Cebu City Hall.

This after acting city mayor Michael Rama yesterday instructed personnel of the Department of Social Welfare and Services under Cathy Yso to coordinate with the relatives of Augustin Villaban for possible assistance from the city government.

“Atong tan-awon og unsay matabang sa City Hall ngadto sa pamilya sa biktima, posible gamay ba kaha nga financial assistance,” Rama said.

Rama learned that Villaban was buried alive inside his house when a palm tree fell on it.

He was digging a canal near his house to divert the rainwater from his hut but had accidentally carved the base of the tree, causing it to fall.

Residents in the area claimed that the soil soften due to constant rain before the incident.

The acting mayor said he already ordered Pit-os barangay captain Nilo Tariman to help the families of Villaban. — Rene U. Borromeo/LPM (THE FREEMAN)
