Cebu City was noted to be generally peaceful yesterday during the boxing match of Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and the “Golden Boy” Oscar dela Hoya.
This was noted by Sr. Supt. Patrocinio Comendador, Jr., director of the Cebu City Police Office, shortly after the bout between Pacquiao and Dela Hoya.
Comendador mentioned of only one alarm reported to their office while the match was going on.
SPO4 Edgar Abangan of the Pardo Police Station confirmed that a robbery took place yesterday noon in St. Jude Acres, barangay Bulacao, wherein two unidentified men onboard a black motorcycle took the mobile phone of an 18-year-old.
Abangan said that a woman called them up and told them his son had been robbed of his cellphone at 12:45 p.m. yesterday on his way to buy roast chicken.
The robbers allegedly stopped in front the victim and the man riding pillion disembarked and threatened him with a knife. The motorcycle driver was also reportedly armed with a gun.
Elements of the Pardo police Station immediately responded to the area, but failed to apprehend the suspects who had already fled.
They also failed to locate the said woman who called them up and informed them of the incident. The incident itself was also not reported to the police station. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
