Water interruption hits south of Metro

-

CEBU - Large part of southern Metro Cebu went waterless for at least 15 hours yesterday as the Metropolitan Cebu Water District installed a 700-meter steel pipeline in front of Gaisano Fiesta Mall in Tabunok in Talisay City.

Edna Inocando, MCWD spokesperson, said that the water interruption has been scheduled and that they have published a notice of it in local newspapers last week.

Some consumers yesterday raised their concerns to The FREEMAN on what happened to their water connection as the interruption went on for a longer period of time.

Inocando said the water district is conducting an interconnection of its newly laid pipeline to the existing 600mm diameter pipeline in the area.

She said the water interruption started from 9:00 p.m. the other night to 12:00 noon yesterday.

“But it takes one to two hours to build up the water pressure. Mao nang pag 12:00 noon wala pa kaayo tubig kay empty man gyud ang tangke sa tubig,” Inocando said.

She added that their water tank in Lagtang, Talisay has a total capacity of 5,000 cubic meters.

The areas that went waterless or have experienced low pressure are the Talisay barangays of Lagtang, Mohon, Pook, Lawaan, Dumlog, San Isidro, Tabunok, Cansojong, Poblacion, San Roque and Tangke.

In Cebu City, areas that were hit by the water interruption were barangays Inayawan, Cogon, Bulacao, Basak, Pardo, Kinasang-an, San Nicolas, Bulacao, Basak San Nicolas, Mambaling, Duljo, Sawang Calero, San Nicolas Proper, Suba Pasil, Pasil, Pahina Central, Kalubihan, Ermita, Carbon Market, Taboan and area near the Malacañang sa Sugbo. — Mitchelle L.
