Carcar employee dies during LGU Olympics
CEBU - A job order employee of the Carcar City Hall met his untimely death Wednesday when he bumped his head on a concrete bench while playing basketball at the annual Local Government Unit Olympics.
Roy Ombay Cabonillas, 38, married, was declared dead on arrival at the South General Hospital.
PO3 Ruben Renes of the Carcar City police said Cabonillas tried to save a loose ball during a match at the Poblacion 1 Sports Complex last Wednesday afternoon when he slipped and accidentally bumped his head on a concrete bench.
The impact rendered him unconscious, which prompted organizers to stop the game.
He was first brought to the Carcar City District Hospital but doctors there advised that he be transferred to the South General Hospital. There, he was declared dead on arrival.
