Two minors nabbed in separate stabbings
Two minors, aged 15 and 17, were arrested after they figured in two separate stabbing incidents in the city yesterday and last Saturday.
Early morning yesterday, a 17-year-old boy stabbed his neighbor who accused him of stealing his pants in sitio Santo Niño, barangay Suba.
Reynaldo Bahag, 23, a nursing student in one of the universities in the city, was wounded on the left side of his body after the suspect stabbed him.
Reports said the two had a heated altercation after Bahag accused the suspect of stealing his pants that irked the latter and prompted to stab the victim.
The suspect was arrested by a police who happened to pass by the area when the incident took place.
In another incident, a 13-year-old boy was stabbed by his 15-year-old neighbor in F. Calderon Street, Cebu City last Saturday.
Roel Abellar, a grade one pupil sustained a stab wound on his nape and was rushed to Cebu City Medical Center for treatment.
A report from the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office said that prior the incident, the suspect was having a fistfight with victim’s brother.
Upon seeing the commotion, victim allegedly intervened and tried to pacify the two but the suspect got irked and stabbed him on the nape by the use of a bladed weapon.
The victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment while the suspect voluntarily surrendered at the barangay hall.
Meanwhile, at around 10:30 a.m. of the same day, a retired member of the Philippine Army was stabbed by a drunken internet café customer in Sudlon, Lahug.
SPO2 Rey Cuyos and other personnel of the Homicide Section of CCPO who investigated the incident said that Marthy Bantilan, 56, was stabbed by Roland Sonido, 19, of Top Hills, Lahug after he called the attention of the suspect for his frequent going in and out of the internet café that is owned by the victim’s son, Marthy, Jr.
The victim claimed the suspect got angry and stabbed him after he told him to go home.
Sonido allegedly went home after Marthy Sr. pushed him but he later came back and shouted for trouble. The suspect then entered back the café and stabbed the victim on the left arm.
Responding policemen from the Mobile Patrol Group composed of PO3 Jaime Appare and PO2 Erwin Picquero arrested the suspect. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/WAB
