Man faces double murder raps for death of mourners

Double murder charges have been filed before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office on Friday against a man who was accused of killing two men during a wake in Medellin town last October 19.

Anita Venturan, the wife of one of the victims, have sworn before the police that Nicanor Jurcales alias “Lorie” was the one who shot her husband Juanito Venturan and Inocencio Tundag Jr. during a vigil in barangay Daanlungsod.

Anita said that Jurcales along with the two victims were attending the wake of her daughter where they had a drinking spree.

But at the height of their drinking session, Jurcales allegedly left and came back later already wearing a bonnet along with his unidentified companions and shot aimlessly at the people who were attending the wake.

Juanito Venturan and Innocencio Tundag sustained gunshot wounds in the head that caused their untimely death. Another mourner was hit in the arm and was brought to the hospital for treatment.

Jurcales eluded arrest but the case has been filed against him after he was positively identified by the witnesses. — Jasmin R. Uy/WAB
