Gwen commends three towns for hosting Provincial Meet

Governor Gwendolyn Garcia yesterday lauded officials of Liloan, Compostela and Consolacion towns for accepting her challenge to host this year’s Provincial Meet despite monetary challenges and the very short time for preparation.

Speaking in yesterday’s opening at Liloan Central Elementary School, Garcia said success was achieved because the three towns joined efforts in working for the event.

“Gikinahanglan nga ato gayud nga padayon nga ipakita ang atong panaghiusa,” Garcia said.

The governor announced Liloan as host of this year’s provincial meet during last year’s meet in Balamban. And while Liloan is the main host of the event, Garcia had said the neighboring towns of Cosolacion and Compostela must also do their share in ensuring the success of the meet.

Liloan Mayor Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco admitted they accepted Garcia’s challenge after he received support from Compostela Mayor Ritchie Wagas and Consolacion Mayor Avelino Gungob, Sr.

Frasco also acknowledged Liloan Vice Mayor Thelma Jordan and the members of the municipal council for working in the preparations, as well as to the provincial government for allocating funds for the repair of school buildings in the town where the student athletes are being billeted.

Frasco said the presence of the 5,000 student athletes in the town for a whole week would certainly help the small businessmen there. — Jose P. Sollano/JMO
