CEBU - To help his fellow Cebuanos and share to them the spiritual gift of healing graced upon him by God, US-based Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement leader Roberto “Bob” Canton visited Cebu for a healing service and seminar yesterday.
Organized by the Amor Dei Community, Canton led the healing service in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Church joined by believers of the power of the Holy Spirit to heal the sick and hurting.
Canton will also be attending the Kerygma Conference dubbed “Awaken the Miracle in You” on November 29 and 30 at the Philsport Arena in Pasig City.
Canton is a Vatican-based Council member of the International Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services handling different ministries, one of which and where he is more focused on is a healing ministry serving Catholic followers from various parts of the world.
He had been to 38 countries doing ministries for the service of the people and for the glory of God. Most of the time, he ministers to people through healing and preaching the word of God as the Lord has commanded, Canton said.
“As a baptized Christian, I was called by God to evangelize, to do His works and live a life that is according to the likeness of Christ which I have started to exercise in 1984 when I first become a true Christian by faith,” Canton said.
Canton, who was born in Cebu, referred to as the “cradle of Christianity in the Far East”, has reached as far as the Vatican as God allowed him to. In the ICCRS, Canton represents to the Vatican the countries of North America, Central America and the Caribbean nations with over 16 million believers. He also represents Vatican to these countries.
When he retired from his previous job as an auditor and decided to serve full time in the ministry six months ago, he was able to respond, in giving heart, to the demands of the ministry. “There are so many sick people and so many are hurting. I really pray that God will not lay me off from this job I love from where I find joy,” Canton said.
He added that he has a wonderful vision for the province of Cebu which is to put up a healing center here where they could hold healing services, prayer meetings, retreats and trainings.
“Let me just clarify that I cannot heal. It is God and only Him who can heal. Every time we do the service, we pray for healing in the name of Jesus Christ. We depend on the Lord that’s why we call it the Divine healing,” Canton said. — Jessica Ann Pareja/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
