Man stabs ex-lover's uncle

CEBU - A man stabbed his girlfriend’s uncle last Friday afternoon in barangay Argawanon, San Remigio town after allegedly being fed up with his demands for money to buy liquor and false assurances that his niece loved him.

Celso Jakosalem, 28, surrendered to the police after stabbing his neighbor Felix Andrino in the neck.

Jakosalem said his girlfriend broke up with him last All Souls’ Day just as he was planning to see her parents to formally ask for her hand in marriage.

The suspect was allegedly forced to give money to Andrino when he and his ex-girlfriend were still together. Andrino allegedly kept on encouraging him to court his niece and even assured him that his niece loved him a lot.

Jakosalem said after the break-up he felt depressed and bought and drank malathion, but his brother saw what he did and rushed him to the hospital in Bogo City, saving his life.

It was only four days after the break-up when her ex-girlfriend told him she really did not love him that he realized he had been fooled by Andrino all along.

He was further enraged when his brother complained of the hospital bills and upon learning that Andrino earned enough money for his liquor from caroling. Around 3 p.m. last Friday he sought out Andrino and attacked him.

Jakosalem, who is now detained and waiting for the filing of charges against him, said he has no regrets for what he did. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
