Raps eyed vs. Lapu gay bar manager

CEBU - Officials of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group are now planning to sue in court the manager of a gay bar for accusing them that they have demanded P200,000 in exchange for not filing a case against him and his personnel who were arrested for performing indecent shows.

CIDG-7 assistant regional chief Ritchie Medardo Posadas said criminal charges would be filed against Mark Anthony Basillo, also known as Tony Lakandula, for maligning the name and integrity of the overall personnel of the entire unit.

Basillo, who claimed to be the consultant of Poseidon Entertainment Gay Bar in barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City, went to ABS-CBN’s radio station dyAB yesterday and announced publicly his accusation against the CIDG agents who raided the bar last Monday night.

But it would be unfortunate for Basillo because even the bar owner John Angeles strongly denied that the CIDG agents under Senior Supt. Guillermo Eleazar have tried to extort money from them.

“Dili g’yod na tinuod ang iyang gisulti,” Angeles said when interviewed by the reporters.

Posadas argued that it would be impossible for them to demand money from the bar owners in exchange for not filing charges against the 10 male dancers and the bar owner and manager.

“Imposible nga dili mapasakaan og kaso nga gipahibalo man dayon namo sa media ang ilang pagkadakop human sa operation,” Posadas said.

Angeles and Rod John Padal, the macho dancer arrested for dancing naked in front of customers, were already charged for violating Article 201 of the Revised Penal Code, but they were released after posting P24,000 bail bond.

The nine other male performers were just charged with vagrancy as they were not caught in the act of dancing nude. – Rene U. Borromeo/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
