CEBU – A 24-year-old was shot in the forehead by an unidentified man early morning the other day in Upper Maraat, barangay Matab-ang, Toledo City, while the victim was sleeping.
Rodelio Ponteras Jr. was rushed to Toledo City Hospital and was later taken to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center for further medical treatment after sustaining a serious gunshot wound to the left side of his forehead.
Initial investigation conducted by elements of Toledo police station led by PO3 Jemelon Cotmaya disclosed that around 2 a.m. the other day while the victim was sleeping in a nipa hut few meters away from his house, he was shot by an unidentified man. The assailant immediately fled after the incident still carrying with him the gun. There was no recovered empty shell also at the crime incident.
As referred by his attending physician, the victim was later taken to VSMMC where he is currently treated.
Police said the bullet entered the victim’s forehead but did not exit from his head.
Jimenez further said they have not yet received any update regarding the condition of the victim but said he is still in serious condition. Elements of the said police station are still looking for the assailant. So far the motive remains unknown. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
