Nurse mauled to death contrary to spot report
CEBU - It was revealed that there is no truth to the spot report made by the Medellin Police Station which showed that the 22-year-old nurse of the Bogo-Medellin Medical Center was killed in a road accident.
In the said spot report, Ermigiel Frederick Lobetaña died because the motorcycle he was riding on rammed onto a coconut tree in Lamintak Norte, Medellin last October 25, at 12:30 a.m.
The Medellin Police are consequently in danger of facing an administrative case following the wrong conduct of the spot report which allegedly is the reason why the people behind his death are not yet apprehended.
The autopsy report produced by PNP Crime Laboratory-7 medico-legal officer, Dr. Nestor Sator showed that the victim had several wounds and bruises on his head and body believed to be whip marks, possibly perpetrated with the use of a steel pipe or wood.
SPO3 Elvie Lobetaña of the Bogo City Police, a resident of Poblacion, San Remigio, and father of the victim said that he conducted his own investigation with his close friend and relative, lawyer Ramsey Quijano.
Their investigation showed that his son was waylaid and mauled to death by around 10 assailants.
Lobetaña said that two witnesses personally approached him in his residence and informed him on what really happened during the incident.
He also said that he already suspected foul play when he saw his son, who was taken to the Verallo District Hospital in Bogo, with a hole in the head and several bruises in the body.
This had evoked him to go to the crime scene and upon arrival, his suspicions heightened after checking that the motorcycle used by his son showed no damage. There was no indication of a vehicular accident on the road also, he said.
Meanwhile, PO3 Paquito Son, the responding officer during the incident, denied the accusation that they did not conduct immediate action to the incident.
Son said that upon arriving at the crime scene, he learned that the victim was already taken to the hospital. According to him, it was the witnesses who told him that the younger Lobetaña, onboard his motorcycle, rammed onto a coconut tree. — Niña Chrismae G.
