CEBU – Jobeta Lasdose, 59, was walking her way to mass early morning last Friday when she was hit by a speeding pickup truck. She never reached the church.
Personnel at the Bogo City District Hospital declared Lasdose dead after she suffered severe head injury. Witnesses said the driver of the vehicle did not even care to check on the victim and instead immediately sped away from the scene. A concerned citizen brought Lasdose to the hospital.
Bogo traffic personnel said Lasdose was on her way to Nazareth Church and was walking at the left side of the road when a speeding pickup truck appeared from a curb and hit her, reportedly throwing her two meters away from where she originally was.
Witnesses could not identify the driver but said the pickup was towing another car. Fortunately, the plate numbers of both vehicles were retrieved – the pickup truck reportedly bore plate number GRD 926 while the towed vehicle bore the number GXU 315.
The Bogo police are now coordinating with the Land Transportation Office to determine the owners of the two vehicles. - Ferliza C. Contratista/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
