Alleged gunrunner charged in court

CEBU - Criminal charges were formally elevated to court yesterday against Genaro Cortez Ibale who was arrested last October 19 for carrying firearms without permit. 

Ibale was placed under arrest morning on October 19 after he was found with three .45 caliber pistols and seven live ammunitions during an inspection at Pier 1. He reportedly failed to present any papers to support his carrying of the firearms.

Police said they implemented the mandatory inspection of bags of passengers passing through the gate of Pier 1 after they received a tip that Ibale would transport guns from Bohol to Cebu.

Ibale is facing charges for violating Republic Act 8294 or the act that amended the law on illegal possession of firearms. – Jasmin R. Uy/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
