PNP chief to visit Cebu on Thursday
CEBU - Newly appointed chief of the Philippine National Police, Director Gen. Jesus Versoza is set to make his first visit to Cebu this Thursday.
This as officials and members of the Police Regional Office-7 will also hand over to him a manifesto of support to his leadership.
PRO-7 Regional Operations and Plans Division director, Supt. Louie Oppus said that Versoza will be in town on Thursday for some work-related activities.
A pass and review will be conducted at the PRO-7 in honor of the PNP chief which will start at around 8 a.m.
After which, Oppus said, the new PNP chief will pay a visit to Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal at the Archbishop’s Palace.
From there, Versoza will proceed to Moalboal town for the holding of the “Scubasurero” in line with the “Makakalikasan Program” of the PNP launched recently.
Coastal cleanups will be simultaneously conducted in the municipalities, Oppus said. Versoza will then set to make a brief appearance at the Naga City Police Station.
On Thursday, Oppus said that the PRO-7 will also hand over to the PNP chief the said manifesto after majority of the city and provincial directors expressed their support by signing in last Saturday’s meeting the manifesto of support to Versoza’s leadership amid the Moscow scandal.
“Despite the issues hounding the organization, particularly the ‘Moscow scandal’ or the ‘Euro Generals’ we remain in him, he has our loyalty,” Oppus added.
According to the manifesto, Versoza has shown concern for the PNP while heading the PNP Housing Board. He is also crucial in the coming up of the Transformation Program of the PNP.
The manifesto was initiated by Oriental Negros Police director, Senior Supt. Augustus Marquez. — Ferliza C. Contratista/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
