Policemen claim drop in motorcycle crimes

-

CEBU - With the launching of the Task Force Motorcycle, police noted a decrease in crimes perpetrated by motorcycle-riding criminals.

In yesterday’s weekly meeting held at the Police Regional Office-7, Cebu City Police Office Chief Patrocinio Comendador said the decrease was brought about by the synchronized checkpoints strategy and roving by motorcycle police and beat patrols of the city.

CCPO launched last Friday its own version of the “Task Force Motorcycle” to go after criminals riding motorcycles.

Leading the Task Force is CCPO Deputy for Operations Supt. Paul Labra.

The task force has three teams, the Homicide Team led by Sr. Insp. Mario Monilar, the Robbery Team led by Sr. Insp. Michael Bastes and the Special Investigation Unit led by Sr. Insp. George Ylanan.

He also said in an early report that a more vibrant police force is out to curb if not permanently stop motorcycle-related crimes. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot (THE FREEMAN)
