PB approves P3.4 M supplemental budget

-

CEBU - The Cebu Provincial Board has approved unanimously the P3,420,000 Supplemental Budget No. 2, which Governor Gwendolyn Garcia said would cover the appropriations of the general fund and operations of district hospitals.

Board Member Wenceslao Gakit, chairman of the PB committee on budget and appropriations, said P920,000 would be used for the operation of three district hospitals, including the Danao City District Hospital, J.V. Borromeo Memorial Hospital and S. Verallo Memorial Hospital.

The Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center would also be receiving P250,000 from the supplemental budget.

Also last week, Garcia submitted to the provincial board the P2.32 billion budget of the province for 2009, five percent bigger that this year’s annual budget.

If approved, the 2009 budget will be the province’s biggest allocation so far, surpassing by around P120 million this year’s P2.2 billion allocation.

In keeping with her principle of running the province as an enterprise, Garcia allocated P794.5 million – the biggest chunk of the 2009 budget – to economic services.

General services got the second biggest share at P769.7 million while social  services is given the third biggest share at P755 million. — Garry B. Lao/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
