Sales clerk wounded in Sambag II shooting

CEBU - A sales clerk was shot and wounded by an unidentified assailant after she passed him by along Uytengsu St., barangay Sambag II, Cebu City past midnight yesterday.

Police identified the victim as Sheila Pactoran, a sales clerk of the National Bookstore Mango Avenue branch, and a native of Dipolog City, but currently residing in sitio Banawa, barangay Guadalupe.

The unidentified male assailant, who casually walked away towards Osmeña Blvd. after shooting the victim, was described as having a slim build, about 5’6” tall and wearing a black T-shirt and black pants.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim and her friend Man Lee, a Canadian citizen, just left the Enkwell Internet café and study center and were walking along the road.

The assailant was covering his face with his hand as the victim passed by and then shot her, the bullet entered the left side of her back and exited out through her chest.

The victim was rushed to the Sacred Heart Hospital where she is now out of danger.

SPO2 Rogelio Nedamo of the Homicide Section of Cebu City Police Office said they are conducting a follow-up to determine the motive of the assailant. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
