In Minglanilla Town: One killed, one wounded in stabbing incidents

CEBU - Blood smeared in Minglanilla Sunday evening when a man was stabbed to death by his cousins because of his stinking poultry house and a drunken son stabbed his father with a broken bottle for scolding him for going home late.

Jessie Padayao, 27, of barangay Tunghaan was walking his way home last Sunday night when waylaid by his cousins Ian Padayao and Efren Padayao del Socorro who attacked him without any word.

The victim failed to make it alive to the Minglanilla District Hospital where he was rushed after the incident.

PO2 Edsel Ricablanca of the Minglanilla police said the suspects fled from the crime scene but surrendered to the police yesterday. Both are detained at the Minglanilla detention cell pending the filing of charges against them.

Police later learned that the disagreement started from the victim’s stinking piggery.

In the same night in barangay Poblacion Ward 3, a bloodied Jaime Geonson, 54, arrived at the Minglanilla police station to seek help from his son who stabbed his neck with a broken bottle.

Geonson told the police that his son, Gerome, 33, stabbed him after he scolded his son for going home late and drunk. Gerome reportedly got irked by the scolding, picked up an empty bottle, broke it, and stabbed the victim.

Gerome is now in hiding. — Edwin Ian Melecio/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
