CEBU – While waiting for his pathology results which are set to be released on Tuesday, Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña is resting at a hotel in Boston.
City Administrator Bimbo Fernandez in an interview said that the Mayor is doing fine and is resting well.
Doctors at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston successfully removed the mass in the urinary bladder of Osmeña last Friday.
The operation was reportedly conducted at 1 a.m. (1:00 p.m. here) in Boston Friday and only lasted for a few hours.
Osmeña has already been out of the hospital after he was advised by doctors to stay at the hospital for at least 36 hours.
The pathology results are the product of the examination of the mass that was removed from his bladder.
Fernandez said that he is not certain yet as to when the mayor will be back but the mayor told him that he wants to be in Cebu City as he had so many things to attend to.
As for now, the mayor was told by doctors to undergo a diet after his operation.
Before Osmeña left for New York last week, he told the media and those city officials who sent him at the airport, that he might be back immediately to Cebu City if the doctors will decide to subject him to surgical operation to remove the mass from his urinary bladder.
Osmeña started finding blood in his urine during the campaign period for the 2007 elections, but brushed it off as merely stress related.
Blood was again found in his urine last September 30 that prompted him to submit for a medical check-up at Chong Hua Hospital and was told that the doctors had found a mass in his urinary bladder.
The mayor’s sister, Minnie Osmeña, instructed him to fly to New York to get a second opinion from medical specialists and to undergo a surgical operation at the Massachusetts General Hospital if the operation is really needed. – Jasmin R. Uy/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
