CEBU – A suspected communist terrorist was arrested by policemen inside his residence in barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City Saturday night.
Chief Supt. Ronald Roderos, the regional police chief, identified the suspect as 48-year-old Dario Inot, alias PG, Allen, Kenny or David.
Inot was arrested at around 11:30 p.m. by the elements of the Regional Intelligence Division of the Police Regional Office-7 under Sr. Supt. Melvin Ramon G. Buenafe.
Roderos said that Inot was arrested by virtue of a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 25 of Danao City where he has a standing warrant of simple rebellion.
Inot was first detained at the Lapu-Lapu City Police Station, but was later transferred to the PRO-7 stockade for tactical interrogation.
Inot denied being a rebel as he said that he is working as a recruiter of a political party called Partido ng Bayan.
He however admitted that he had been in prison for eleven years for killing a policeman in Mandaue City in 1987. He served time at the National Penitentiary in Muntinlupa from 1987 to 1998.
Roderos said Inot’s standing warrant of arrest of simple rebellion was in connection with the assault of the Municipal Hall and the police station in Sogod, Cebu in April 2000.
Roderos said that two Sogod policemen, who were asked to go to the Police Regional Office, positively identified Inot as one of those who raided their station.
Inot vehemently denied any involvement in the communist movement.
Roderos said that they believe that Inot could be one of the rank and file of the communist group.
Although Inot did not admit that he is a member of the communist movement, he admitted that he knows Edgardo Sacamay and Ricardo Villarmea who were recently arrested by police.
Central Visayas Regional Party Committee (CVRPC) secretary, Edgardo Sacamay, alias Brando, who was arrested last year, also allegedly participated in the Sogod raid.
Inot will be presented this morning to the presiding judge of the court that issued the warrant of arrest. — Jasmin R. Uy/NLQ (THE FREEMAN)
