Oslob VM hurt in car accident

CEBU - Oslob town vice mayor Pacifica Letigio sustained injuries when the municipal vehicle that she was riding fell off an 8-meter deep embankment in barangay Calumpang, Oslob last Thursday afternoon.

Reports reaching the Cebu Provincial Police Office said Letigio was driving a Nissan Pathfinder pickup and was trying to overtake a red Suzuki Vitara owned by Egmedio Merainon, 60, of Looc, Santander town when the accident happened.

Police said both vehicles were travelling from the north towards Santander.

But while Letigio tries to overtake the other vehicle, she allegedly accidentally hit the left front bumper of the Vitara that caused her to lose control of the steering wheel.

As a result, the car swerved to the left lane and fell into a ravine that is approximately eight meters deep.

Letigio was rushed to Oslob District Hospital but she was later transferred to Cebu Community Hospital in Cebu City.

She was said to have suffered cuts and bruises and underwent intensive examination to determine other possible injuries.

The driver of the Vitara was unharmed while his vehicle only sustained minor damage at the left side portion of its bumper.
