CEBU - Cebu sixth district Representative Nerissa Soon Ruiz defended the Reproductive Health Bill of 2007 as it gives quality life to the Filipinos.
Ruiz said she hopes that the bill would proceed to the second hearing in the House plenary as discussions will resume in November.
Ruiz said it would be better if no one will oppose the bill which, she believes, would solve the problem on the difficulty in the lives of Filipino families.
She said if the pro-life groups promote life, supporters of the RH bill promote quality life for Filipinos who will learn what ideal family size best fits them, according to their capability to support their family.
“Do they want to see couples with many children but just leave their children on streets because they could not afford to raise them? The RH bill teaches about responsible living,” said Ruiz.
Ruiz said she’s happy that discussions of the RH bill helps people understand of its true function and purpose. She stressed she was even gladder that based on SWS survey, most Filipinos approve the RH bill.
Reports have reached her that there are also groups that are pushing for the bill to be passed.
“It’s time that it (the bill) should be passed,” Ruiz added. — Jessica Ann R. Pareja/LPM (THE FREEMAN)
